This is a unique item before women carried purses they relied on Chatelianes to keep an array of miniature accessories close at hand . Named after ” La Chateliane ” for the lady of the house or key keeper the Chatelaine became a practical accessory for women at the time before pockets became fashionable .
Objects such as note books, pencils , miniature perfume bottles were often attached. Today it is rare to find a chatelaine with all original accessories this these ones are more desirable.
